About the Owner

My name is Grace, and I am located just outside of Lexington, KY. As a child, I always loved animals and would consistently ask for pets for Christmas, starting at the age of 3. My mom bought our first family dog the I was in high school, a purebred Basset Hound named Cooper. Cooper was from a local shelter, and was as sweet as pie, until he wasn't. Right in front of my eyes, he went after my grandma while resource guarding me. This ended in my grandma going to the emergency room and requiring surgery. Our next dog, a Basset Hound from a re-home situation, who had developed extreme separation anxiety from me, to the point where I couldn't leave the house. I loved both of these dogs, however, there were clearly severe issues with both. I had thought that it was just due to us getting them as adults, but after looking for a dog for myself a couple years later, I was informed of ethical breeding, and the difference it can make, when a dog is genetically sound, raised in the correct fashion, and set up for success in multiple avenues.

After mentoring under a breeder for several years now, I am excited to take everything I have learned and bring it to the two breeds that I am thrilled to have in my life, the Pekingese and the Dalmatian.

My love for Pekingese runs rampant. Confident, spunky, happy-go-lucky, and joyous. The decision to bring my first, Ethereal, into my life was a decision made out of longing. I wanted a small breed dog that I could spoil, have fun with, and be my little lap dog. I received all of that and more with Ethereal. The Pekingese is truly a heart breed for me, and I can't imagine my life without one!

Dalmatians were a breed I had been interested in as a young child. The reason I got one as an adult, was to challenge myself in my training. After working with dogs that were very eager to please, I wanted a medium sized dog, that needed motivation in order to do as he is asked. A dog that could do sports with me, get me involved in the conformation world in a breed that is not overrun with professional handlers. And a dog with low coat maintenance. The Dalmatian was a wonderful candidate, and at the end of the day, the breed I landed on. This dog was Hatter, and I am thankful every day for him!

What Goes Into A Živjeli Dalmatian?

Our breeding starts not at our dogs, but generations of dogs back in their pedigrees. I make it a point to know the dogs that created my dogs, what kind of traits they bring to the table and what kind of faults they could create. In my program, my goal is to create dogs that structurally adhere to the breed standard, have breed type, and can do the work of a historically correct Dalmatian. Our puppies are born and raised in home. Starting at 3 days old, the puppies start Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI). We use Puppy Culture guidelines throughout their entire time with us, in hopes of creating more stability as our puppies grow into adults. Our raising protocol includes new experiences, car rides, grooming, stacking, clicker training, leash walking, crate training, and of course, socialization with people, dogs, cats, and small animals. This helps prepare our puppies for many things that they may experience in their new homes. At 8 weeks of age, puppies will be evaluated based upon their structure, temperament, spotting, workability, and everything in between. I will decide based on our puppy applications and personal conversations had with individuals to decide what puppy would suit their lifestyle the best. After I match you with your puppy, we will make arrangements on how to get them to you!
